hommus

there are a lot of hommus recipes out there. this is how i make it.

Prep time: 10 minutes
Serves 2 people

Categories: dip, middle eastern, vegan

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chickpeas, cooked
  • 2-4 Tbsp tahine (to taste)
  • 1 lemon, juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • paprika
  • cinnamon (just a little bit)
  • allspice (we call it "pimenta síria", syrian pepper, in brazil. optional)

Directions

  1. put everything on the blender or food processor and turn it on, adding water until the desired consistency. i usually start with 1/4 – 1/2 cup.

  2. serve with pita bread or chips, or use it as a sandwich spread.
