Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. boneless top loin or sirloin steak
  • 1/2 c. soy sauce
  • 1/4 c. vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 T. cornstarch
  • Rice

Directions

  1. Trim fat and any bone from steak; cut beef across the grain and into 1/8 in. slices (easier if partially frozen). Mix soy sauce, oil, ginger, and garlic. Stir in beef, coating each slice thoroughly. Cover and refridgerate 1 hr. Drain beef, reserving marinade. Cook and stir beef in 10 in. skillet over med. heat, stirring frequently, just until beef is light brown, about 5 min. Add enough cold water to marinade to measure 1/2 c. Shake marinade-water mixture and cornstarch in a tightly covered container; stir gradually into beef. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered 5 min. Serve over hot rice.
