Ingredients

  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 T. milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. garlic
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted

Directions

  1. In bowl dissolve yeast in water and let stand 10 minutes.

  2. Stir in sugar, milk, egg, salt and enough flour to make soft dough.

  3. Knead 6-8 minutes on lightly floured surface.

  4. Place in well-oiled bowl and cover with damp cloth.

  5. Let rise 1 hour till doubled.

  6. Punch dough down and knead in garlic. Pinch handfuls of dough golf ball size and roll into ball

  7. and place on a tray. Cover with towel and rise till double again (about 30 minutes)

  8. Preheat pan and lightly oil. Roll 1 ball in a thin circle. Place on pan and cook 2-3 minutes until puffy and light brown. Brush uncooked side with butter and cook 2-4 minutes.
