Black-Bottom Banana Bars

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup baking cocoa

Directions

  1. Cream together butter and sugar.

  2. Add egg and vanilla. Beat until thoroughly combined.

  3. Blend in bananas.

  4. Combin flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture and mix well.

  5. Divide batter in half. Add cocoa to half and spread into a greased 13×9×2 pan.

  6. Spoon remaining batter on top and swirl with a knife.

  7. Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes.

  8. Cool.
