Meatloaf (Falsche Hase)

Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 lbs. ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp. onions, chopped
  • 1 white bread, torn into 1/2 in. chunks
  • 1/6 c. milk
  • 1 bacon, uncooked, cut crosswise into strips
  • 1 Tbsp. breadcrumbs
  • 1 Tbsp. ketchup

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F

  2. Soak white bread in enough milk to make a mush. Set aside

  3. Mix together beef, eggs, onion, salt and pepper. Blend well.

  4. Add break/milk mixture to meat mixture.

  5. Pat meat into loaf shape and place on baking sheet with a lip to catch drippings

  6. Press bacon slivers gently into top of loat with a pointed tip of a knife.

  7. Spoon ketchup generously into top of meatloaf, then sprinkle with breadcrumbs

  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes
