Pot Pie

A very old family recipes – over 100 years old. This isn’t really a pie, but more like stew and dumplings.

Ingredients

  • Stew:
  • 1 pound cubed veal and veal shank (or ham or beef)
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 stalk celery
  • Salt and pepper
  • Potatoes
  • Carrots
  • Dough
  • 2 cups flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons melted butter and water to make one cup

Directions

  1. Stew meat with onion and celery with water to cover for 2 hours. ½ hour before turn off time, add potatoes and carrots as desired. When these are soft, remove meat and vegetables and set aside.

  2. Dough: To 2 cups flour add 2 Tablespoons melted butter with enough water to make 1 cup. Add salt and pepper to taste. Roll on floured board and cut into 2” squares.

  3. Boil pot of water. When liquid comes to a boil, add dough pieces and boil 5 minutes. Serve all together.
