Ingredients

  • 1 c. water
  • pinch of salt
  • 3/4 c. cracked wheat

Directions

  1. Bring water to a boil.

  2. Add salt (optional).

  3. Dump in cracked wheat.

  4. Reduce heat to a simmer and stir frequently for one minute or so. When you first add the wheat, you will think the mixture is too thin, but the wheat quickly absorbs the water.

  5. You can vary the cooking time depending on how soft you want the cereal. Also, vary the wheat/water ratio depending on how thick you want the cereal.

  6. Add raisins, nuts, or whatever, for variety. Makes one large bowl. Enjoy!
