Steak Chicana

Incredible Portuguese/Hispanic comfort food. Thanks to my Dad for preparing this recipe so often when we were growing up.

Cook time: 180 minutes
Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chuck roast
  • 1 onion
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 can tomatoes, whole peeled
  • 1 tablespoon Grandma's Spanish Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 6 flour tortillas

Directions

  1. Cut the chuck roast into 2-inch cubes.

  2. Brown the cubes of meat in a Dutch oven and drain off fat.

  3. Add sliced onion, bell pepper, tomatoes, and seasonings.

  4. Simmer for two hours on stove or overnight in slow cooker

  5. Serve with tortillas and enjoy!
