Bottled Apple Pie Filling

Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 25 medium apples
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice

Directions

  1. Peel, slice, and core apples.

  2. Combines all dry ingredients and stir into apples.

  3. Let stand 30 minutes to bring up juices.

  4. Add lemon juice.

  5. Cook over medium heat to thicken (at least 20 minutes).

  6. Pour into quart canning bottles to 2 inches from the top of the bottle.

  7. Process 20 minutes to seal.

  8. Will fill 1 9 inch pie shell or pour over cakes, ice cream, waffles etc.

  9. Makes about 3 quarts per batch 13 quarts per bushel.
