Fried Ham with Red-eye Gravy

Ingredients

  • Ham
  • Sugar
  • Water

Directions

  1. Slice ham about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. Cook slowly in a heavy frying pan until evenly browned on both sides.

  3. Sprinkle each side lightly with sugar during cooking.

  4. Remove the ham and keep it warm, then add about 1/2 cup of cold water or a cup of coffee.

  5. Let it boil until gravy turns red.

  6. Blend and pour over the ham.
