Dodgie’s Holiday Butter Crisps

Serves 36 people

Ingredients

  • 1 c butter, softened
  • 1 3-ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 2 1/4 c flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t baking powder
  • Turbinado sugar or cinnamon sugar

Directions

  1. Beat together butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer.

  2. Gradually add sugar, and beat until light and fluffy.

  3. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder in a separate bowl; gradually beat into butter mixture.

  4. Shape dough into a disk, wrap with plastic wrap, and chill 30 minutes.

  5. eheat oven to 350.

  6. Roll out one-quarter of dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/8" thickness, sprinkling with additional flour as needed to prevent sticking.

  7. Cut out cookies with a 3" cookie cutter, and place gently on a baking sheet.

  8. Sprinkle with turbinado sugar or cinnamon sugar.

  9. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes or until edges turn golden, watching carefully to avoid overbrowning. Cool on a wire rack.

  10. (May also be topped with favorite icing.)
