Easiest-ever apply pie

Cook time: 32 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen deep-dish pie crust
  • 1/2 c chopped pecans
  • 1/4 c flour
  • 1/4 c packed brown sugar
  • 2 T butter
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 2 T cornstarch
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 3 lbs Granny Smith, Golden Delicious and/or Gala apples, cored, peeled and cut into eight wedges
  • 1 T fresh lemon juice

Directions

  1. eheat over to 375.

  2. While crust is thawing at room temperature for 15 minutes, mix pecans, flour and brown sugar in bowl.

  3. Work in butter with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.

  4. Prick bottom of sides of crust with fork. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Immediately brush bottom and sides of hot crust with light coating of egg white.

  5. heat oven to 425.

  6. In large bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon.

  7. Toss in apple and lemon juice.

  8. Cover with waxed paper and microwave on high for 12 minutes, stirring halfway through.

  9. Spoon filling into crust. Sprinkle pecan topping over filling.

  10. Bake pie 10 to 12 minutes or until topping is golden. Cool on wire rack.

  11. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
