Sugared Almonds

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups whole almonds

Directions

  1. Cook sugar and salt in water to soft-ball stage (250 degrees) without stirring.

  2. Remove from heat.

  3. Add vanilla and almonds.

  4. Stir gently until creamy.

  5. Turn out onto greased plate or waxed paper.

  6. Separate almonds as they cool.

  7. This recipe can be made using other nuts, such as pecan or walnuts.
