Old-fashioned Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) blue bonnet margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 1/3 cup unsifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • sugar

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together softened margarine and 1 cup sugar.

  2. Mix in egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract.

  3. In a separate bowl blend together flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda.

  4. Stir into margarine mixture.

  5. Blend well.

  6. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate 2 hours.

  7. On a lightly floured board, roll cookie dough out to 1/8 inch thickness.

  8. Using a 2 inch cookie cutter, cut out cookies and place on greased baking sheets.

  9. Reroll trimming and cut.

  10. Bake at 350 degrees about 5 minutes.

  11. Remove from baking sheets and cool on wire racks.

  12. Sprinkle with sugar while still hot.
