(from Bobbi’s recipe box)

Particularly good with flank steak; You will want to double/triple the recipe if serving more than 2 or 3 people.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup of Soy Sauce (you can use low sodium)
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (or equivalent sweetner)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium white onion (sliced into rings)

Directions

  1. Add steaks to bag and marinate in fridge for NO MORE than 30 minutes (as the soy sauce will make the beef a little salty if left on for more).

  2. Remove steak from bag and prepare grill/broiler. Dump the contents of the remaining marinade (onions, juice, etc.) in a medium saucepan and bring to a soft boil (med/high) and then simmer on (med/low).

  3. Continue to let simmer while you are cooking your steaks as usual.

  4. Once steaks are done, top with carmelized onions/juice from stove.

  5. Makes steaks sooo tender and the marinade adds a nice sweetness to the meat
