Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • Crust
  • 2 cups semolina flour
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup ice water
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Filling
  • 5 -7 apples
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 2 T butter

Directions

  1. Crust

  2. Sift four and salt misture together in bowl.

  3. Quickly rub small pieces of cold butter into the flour mixture with your fingers until bits are the size of peas.

  4. Add ice water slowly until dough moistened.

  5. Stir until forms a loose ball

  6. Divide dough into halves and make two patties.

  7. Place between wax paper and roll into 12 inch circle.

  8. Refrigerate until ready to use.

  9. Filling

  10. Preheat oven to 425 degrees

  11. Mix together sugar, cinnamon, salt.

  12. Peel, core and cut apples into 1/2 inch slices

  13. Toss apples in sugar mixture coating them well

  14. Arrange apple slices in the pir pan piling them higher in the center.

  15. Dot with butter.

  16. Moisten the edge of the bottom crust with water.

  17. Cover pie with top crust, trim edge and pinch

  18. Vent. Glaze with egg yolk and 1 T. water

  19. Bake 45 minutes and allow to cool.
