Strawberry Shortcut

Serves 12 people

Ingredients

  • 6 cups strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 pkg. (10.75 oz) Sara Lee pound cake, cut into 12 slices
  • 3 cups cool whip, whawed

Directions

  1. Toss strawberries with sugar; let stand 10 minutes or until sugar is dissolved.

  2. Meanwhile, cut each slice of cake in half horizontally. Place 1 cake piece on each of 12 dessert plates.

  3. Spoon about 1/4 cup of the strawberries over each cake piece. Top with 2 Tbsp. of the whipped topping. Repeat Layers.

  4. (tip): to create a chocolate strawberry shortcut, substitute brownies. Slice brownie in half and assemble as above.
