62’s Chews

Serves 24 people

Ingredients

  • 1 (18 oz) tube refrigerated chocolate chip cookies
  • 1 (6 oz) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 32 caramels
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Cut cookie dough into 1/4 inch thick slices. Arrange cookies in bottom of a 9×13-inch pan, patting to form a crust.

  3. Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly.

  4. Sprinkle chocolate chips over cookie crust, spreading evenly as they melt.

  5. Place caramels and milk in a small saucepan and heat over low heat, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.

  6. Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips and crust. Sprinkle with nuts.

  7. Refrigerate until firm. Cut into bars.

  8. Serve cold, directly out of refrigerator, or for a softer cookie, allow cookies to come to room temperature.
