Ground Beef Stroganoff

Go lighter on the ketchup, but yummy. Easy for the children.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup liquid (beef broth, water, etc.)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
  • 2 T Worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. Saute onion and mushrooms in oil and butter until onions are until tender. Remove and set aside.

  2. Brown ground beef in the same pan; drain off excess fat.

  3. Sprinkle flour over ground beef; stir to blend.

  4. Add liquid, onion, mushrooms, salt, and ketchup.

  5. Cook and stir until mixture is thickened; stir in sour cream and heat through.

  6. Serve over hot buttered noodles.
