Goan Prawn Curry

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp veg. oil
  • 1" cinnamon stick
  • 5 cardamoms
  • 6 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp ginger, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 2 tsp fresh coriander, chopped

Directions

  1. Fry onion in oil for 3-4 minutes.

  2. Add cinnamon, cardamoms, cloves and bay leaf.

  3. Fry 1-2 minutes more.

  4. Add ginger and garlic.

  5. Fry 1 minute.

  6. Add green pepper, water and tomatoes and bring to a boil.

  7. Add chili, cumin and coriander powders, salt and prawns.

  8. Cover and bring to a boil.

  9. Cook 10-15 minutes.

  10. Add chopped coriander and chillies.
