Scalloped Potatoes

Prep time: 30 minutes
Cook time: 105 minutes
Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 cups potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs (optional)

Directions

  1. In saucepan, melt butter.

  2. Blend in flour and S&P.

  3. Gradually stir in milk and heat until almost boiled, stirring constantly.

  4. Put half of potatoes and half of onions in bottom of 2 quart casserole dish.

  5. Pour half of sauce over.

  6. Repeat layers

  7. Sprinkle top with bread crumbs (optional).

  8. Cover and bake at 350 F for 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours.

  9. Check after half of the time and add milk if required.

  10. Uncover and bake for 15 minutes longer.
