Foccocia Bread

(from Karaline’s recipe box)

This is a fairly flat bread, you can add anything you like to the dough, like cheese, herbs, garlic, dried veggies. I like to coat the top of the bread in butter and parm or just an egg wash.

  1. In a large bowl combine water, yeast and sugar.

  2. Allow yeast to bloom for 5-10 minutes. In a warm place. It will get bubbly.

  3. Mix in flour, salt, garlic powder and anything else you’d like to mix, I love using Parmesan cheese.

  4. Add more warm water until the dough has pulled together and is sticky.

  5. Dump onto floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes.

  6. In a large bowl add some oil.

  7. Put dough in and swirl in the oil to coat.

  8. Cover and let set in a warm place for about an hour.

  9. Preheat the oven to 400*.

  10. Once dough has doubled in size, punch it down in the bowl.

  11. Turn out onto floured surface.

  12. Knead for 10 minutes.

  13. Oil flat pan for baking.

  14. Flatten bread out on pan into shape you want.

  15. Mix egg with about a tablespoon of water to make a wash.

  16. Coat the top of the bread in the egg wash.

  17. Bake for about 20 minutes depending how brown you want the crust.
