Mrs. Tropp’s Cholent

Ingredients

  • 5 medium pealed potatos
  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 1/2 cup barley
  • 1/4 cup kidney beans
  • 1/2 white navy beans or pinto beans
  • 1flanken or california steak
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2+ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp (tbs) garlic powder
  • lots paprika
  • ketchup or non hickory bbq sauce

Directions

  1. in a 5qt crockpot add ingredient up to flanken.

  2. fill 3/4 of pot with water.

  3. add salt pepper garlic and paprika.

  4. add swirl or two of ketchup.

  5. put on high. before shabbos put to low. must cook on high 5-6 hours.

  6. when making veggie add half package sliced muchrooms 1TBS and 1 tsp of soy sauce, 2 TBS oil. and 1 teaspoon of onion soup mix, also, maybe some extra water and barley.
