Caramel Turtle Bars

Serves 12 people

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Original Bisquick
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 bag (14 ounces) caramels
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Stir Bisquick, oats, brown sugar, margarine and egg until well blended.

  3. Press in bottom of ungreased rectangular pan, 13 by 9 by 2 inches.

  4. Bake about 15 minutes or until golden brown; cool.

  5. Heat caramels and milk in 2 quart saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently, until caramels are melted.

  6. Spread over crust.

  7. Sprinkle pecans evenly over caramels.

  8. Heat chocolate chips over low heat, stirring frequently, until melted.

  9. Drizzle over pecans.

  10. Cool 30 minutes.

  11. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows.
