Beef Sauce (Base)

This is a beef sauce that can be used in other recipes to save some time.

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs ground beef
  • 4 medium onions (or 2 large vidalia onions)
  • 5 celery ribs, thinly sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cans (28oz ea.) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 cans (6oz ea.) tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup minced parsley (preferably fresh)
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper

Directions

  1. Cook beef, onion, celery & garlic until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender.

  2. Drain.

  3. Stir in remaining ingredients.

  4. Bring to boil; reduce heat.

  5. Simmer uncovered for 1- 1 ½ hours, stirring occasionally.

  6. Cool.

  7. Transfer into freezer bags (2 cups each). Keeps up to 3 months.
