Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup chunky peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 50 chocolate "kisses", unwrapped

Directions

    • Stir the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl.
    • Beat the margarine and peanut butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium-high speed just until combined. Add the granulated sugar and brown sugar and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla extract.
    • Reduce the speed to low. Slowly add the flour mixture and beat just until combined. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
    • Heat the oven to 375°F. Shape the dough into 50 (1-inch) balls. Roll the balls in additional granulated sugar. Place the balls onto baking sheets.
    • Bake for 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. Press 1 chocolate “kiss” into the top of each hot cookie. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets on wire racks for 10 minutes. Remove the cookies from the baking sheets and cool completely on wire racks.
