Raw Food Smoothies

Directions

  1. Begin by placing 1 cup of water in the bottom of a good quality blender. Putting the water in first will minimize the frequency of the food getting stuck.

  3. Add your favorite raw fruits and vegetables. Some common fruits include strawberries, mango, peaches, and apples. For a green smoothie add some lettuce, kale, parsley or spinach.

  5. Blend well until it reaches the desired smoothness. For thick smoothies, add more fruits and vegetables. For thinner smoothies add fewer fruits and vegetables. If the smoothie becomes too thick, stop the blender, add water, and use a spatula to stir the smoothie a bit before restarting the blender.

  7. If you find the texture of some fruits and vegetables unpalatable, a good way to include them in smoothies is to juice them first. Then add the juice to the smoothie. This method removes unappealing textures and seeds from some fruits and vegetables.
