Jambo Burgers A La Tomahawk

Ingredients

  • Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Medium White Onions
  • 3 lbs. Hamburger
  • 2 Cans Vegetable Soup
  • 2 Cans Vegetable Beef Soup
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 2 2/3 Cups Pre-Cooked Rice
  • Water

Directions

  1. Put 2 frying pans on bed of coals with about 2 tablespoons of shortening each.

  2. Remove outer layers from the onions and dice into 1/4" pieces.

  3. When pans are hot, divide place equal amounts of diced onion in each pan.

  4. Form hamburger into small balls (the size of a quarter) then press into patties.

  5. Place patties into the pan and brown them a few at a time.

  6. Open soup and pour the 4 cans into the dutch oven along with one can of water place on coals and bring to boil, stir occasionally.

  7. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to soup.

  8. When soup starts to boil, add 2 2/3 of a cup of precooked rice and reduce heat and bring to simmer. Stir occasionally.

  9. When the patties are browned, add them and the onions to the soup mixture. Do not add the grease.

  10. Stir but do not break the hamburger patties. Soup will be ready to serve 5 minutes after adding rice.

  11. Add more water if mixture is too dry.
