Sweet-Hot Dipping Sauce

makes about 1 1/2 cups

  • 12 oz jar red current jelly
  • 1/4 c orange juice
  • 1 T Dijon mustard
  • 2 t minced shallot
  • 1 t chipotle pepper sauce (such as Tabasco Chipotle Pepper Sauce)
  • 3/4 t orange zest
  • 1/8 t ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 t cornstarch
  • 2 1/2 t water


  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add jelly, orange juice, mustard, shallot, chipotle sauce, zest and ginger. Bring jelly mixture to a boil. In a small bowl, combine conrstarch and water; add to jelly mixture, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Serve warm.

  2. Can be made ahead up to 2 days.

  3. Can be served with meatballs or chicken tenders.
