Country Ham in Pineapple Sauce With Dried Cherries and Raisins

Ingredients

  • 1 (4 lb) bone-in ham
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 (18 ounce) jar apricot-pineapple preserves
  • 1/4 cup dried sour cherries
  • 1/4 cup golden raisins or 1/4 cup currant

Directions

  1. Stud the ham with the cloves, then place in slow cooker.

  2. Drain pineapple juice from the crushed pineapple into a bowl and add the cornstarch.

  3. Stir until thoroughly blended; then add in the pineapple and preserves; mix well.

  4. Pour and spoon over the ham.

  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 5-7 hours.

  6. Sprinkle on the cherries and raisins; continue to cook 1 hour, until the meat is very tender.

  7. Remove ham from the sauce and let cool for about 15 minutes on a cutting board.

  8. Cut into slices and arrange on plates or a serving platter.

  9. Generously spoon the sauce over the meat and serve at once.
