“Grandma Roses Kielbasa Sauerkraut and Apples”

I love this recipe! It’s really sweet though, so my husband thinks it’s “o.k”. I think this is a classic hit. The person who listed this recipe suggest you pair it with boiled potatoes and Rye bread. I love how you have so many different flavors in this dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Kielbasa; sliced
  • 1 tbs. oil
  • 1 large onion; chopped
  • 1 large apple; cored and diced
  • 1 quart Sauerkraut; rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup Apple Juice
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar

Directions

  1. Brown kielbasa in oil over med. heat

  2. Add chopped onion and saute until onion is translucent

  3. Add apples and saute for a minute until they start to soften

  4. Add rinsed and drained sauerkraut, apple juice, and brown sugar, stir to combine

  5. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 min.

  6. Serve with a bit of mustard for dipping too to counter the sweetness (if your like my hubby!)
