Tamale Pie

Serves 8 people

Ingredients

  • 1 T butter
  • 1 medium-sized onion, minced
  • 1 green pepper, minced
  • 3/4 lb. ground beef
  • 3/4 lb. ground pork
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 2-3 t chili powder
  • 2 t salt
  • 1/2 t pepper
  • 1/2 cup olives, sliced

Directions

  1. Cook in 1 T. butter until golden brown, onion & green pepper. Remove from skillet.

  2. Add and brown beef & pork.

  3. Add and simmer 20 min browned onion & pepper, tomatoes, chili powder, salt, pepper, & olives.

  4. Line bottom and sides of 2 qt. casserole dish w/ cornmeal mush (see recipe.)

  5. Pour in hot meat mixture, top w/ remaining corn meal mush.

  6. Bake at 375 for one hour. Serve hot.
