Chai infused oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. milk substitute
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • 1/8c. vanilla
  • 3/4c. old fashioned rolled oats

Directions

  1. Combine milk , a pinch of salt, coriander, cardamom, cinnamon, and turmeric in a small saucepan.

  2. Simmer for 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring constantly.

  3. Add maple syrup, vanilla, and rolled oats; stir until combined.

  4. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the oatmeal is thick and creamy.

  5. (For steel-cut oats, simply increase the non-dairy milk to 3 cups and the oats to 1 cup. Cooking time will be increased.)

  6. Short cut: If you’re in a hurry, you can infuse your oatmeal with chai flavor by simmering the non-dairy milk with a bag of your favorite chai tea. Remove the tea bag before adding oats.
