Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups apple juice
  • 4 large golden delicious apples, unpeeled and cut into wedges
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, combine the apple juice and sliced apples.

  2. Set over medium heat and cook until the apples are fork-tender, turning often for even cooking (be careful not to overcook the apples).

  3. Remove the apples from the juice with a slotted spoon and place in a bowl.

  4. In another bowl, combine the remaining ingredients; stir with a whisk until well blended.

  5. Pour the hot apple juice mixture into the dry ingredients.

  6. Whisk vigorously until the lumps are gone.

  7. Pour this mixture back into the skillet and heat over medium heat, whisking constantly, until bubbly and thick.

  8. Remove from heat and pour over the apples in the bowl.

  9. Stir until the apples are evenly coated.
