Glazed Cake Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. cold butter
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • Glaze:
  • 1 Tbsp. milk
  • 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Directions

  1. eheat oven to 350.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. Cut the butter into small pieces and work it into the dry ingredients with your fingertips, until the mixture looks like sand. Set aside.

  4. In a small bowl, mix together the buttermilk, vanilla and egg.

  5. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Pipe into a greased doughnut pan using a pastry bag or plastic bag and bake for 15 minutes.

  6. Let cool and mix together glaze ingredients. Drizzle glaze over doughnuts and top with rainbow sprinkles.
