Garlic Bread

(from temporaryworlds’s recipe box)

Parmesan herb, celery seed, paprika, and black pepper can be replaced by 1 teaspoon Schilling Salad Supreme Seasoning. Original recipe called for grated parmesan cheese in place of parmesan herb, but this substitute worked well too.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian Bread
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoons garlic power
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon Parmesan herb
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees

  2. Cut the bread into 1-inch slices, not quite cutting through the bottom crust, so the slices stay attached to one another.

  3. Melt the butter in a small pot over medium heat. As soon as it is melted, remove the pot from the heat.

  4. Add garlic, oregano, parmesan herb, celery seed, paprika, and black pepper to pot and mix well.

  5. Cut a piece of aluminum foil about 4 inches longer than the length of the bread.

  6. Place the bread in the center of the foil and, with a spoon, apply 1/2 teaspoon butter mixture to each side of each slice.

  7. Wrap the foil around the loaf, twisting the ends.

  8. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the steam escapes when you unwrap the foil. The bread will be crisp on the outside, soft in the middle. Serve immediately.
