Lemon Meringue Pie

Ingredients

  • One 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 3 egg yolks
  • One 8-inch pre-baked pie shell or crumb crust
  • Meringue:
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Directions

  1. In medium bowl, combine milk, lemon juice, and zest.

  2. Blend in egg yolks.

  3. Pour into cooled crust.

  4. Meringue:

  5. Preheat over to 325 degrees.

  6. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form.

  7. Gradually beat in sugar until stiff.

  8. Spread over filling, seal to edge of crust.

  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until meringue is golden brown.
