New England Baked Beans

Serve with the classic sides…biscuits and cole slaw!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb dried white beans
  • salt pork
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried mustard
  • 1 teaspoon each salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Directions

  1. Soak beans overnight

  2. Rinse beans in the morning

  3. place beans in bean pot and add all other ingredients

  4. cover with water and bake at 250 for about 6 hours

  5. keep beans covered with water throughout the day but the last 1 1/2 hours let the beans cook down for a nice “bean gravy”
