German Baked Brisket

Cook time: 180 minutes
Serves 5 people

Ingredients

  • 3 - 4 lb Beef Brisket
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worchestershire Sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp tabasco sauce

Directions

  1. Place meat in large casserole or baking pan.

  2. Place in preheated, very hot oven (450 deg)

  3. Brown well, about 25 mins, on each side.

  4. Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients.

  5. Reduce oven heat to moderate (325 deg)

  6. Pour sauce over meat.

  7. Cover with top or foil (foil should not touch meat).

  8. Bake for 3 hrs or until tender, bast occasionally.

  9. Remove meat to cutting board.

  10. Skim fat from pan juices.

  11. Thinly slice brisket; spoon juice over meat.
