Mom’s Best Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 large Granny Smith apples
  • 9" unbaked pie shell
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • Topping:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1/2 cup butter

Directions

  1. Pie filling

  2. Combine sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon in large mixing bowl, pressing out any lumps.

  3. Add sliced apples and toss well to mix.

  4. Fill pastry shell with mixture.

  5. Dot with butter.

  6. Topping

  7. Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon in small bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly.

  8. Scatter thickly over pie filling.

  9. Bake in hot oven, 400 degrees on lower rack for 30 minutes or until the crust and topping are nicely browned. Cool pie on wire rack before cutting. Dust with confectioners sugar.
