Refreshing Lemon-Basil Ice

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of shredded lemon peel
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Directions

  1. Bring water and sugar to a boil, stirring occassionally until sugar is completely dissolved.

  2. Cool for 20 minutes.

  3. Add basil to simple syrup.

  4. Allow entire mixture to sit for at least 30 minutes.

  5. Strain out basil.

  6. Add lemon peel and juice to the basil infused simple syrup.

  7. Pour into a shallow baking dish and freeze for 2 hours.

  8. Put 1/2 of the mixture into a blender to make slushy.

  9. Then put back into dish and freeze for another 2 hours.
