Basic Buttermilk Cake

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup softened butter
  • 3 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup of buttermilk at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees.

  2. Butter cake pan(s).

  3. Beat butter and sugar, in a lage bowl, for 5 minutes on medium speed.

  4. Mix dry ingredients together in a seperate bowl.

  5. Beat in eggs, one at a time.

  6. Sift 1/3 flour mix into the butter mixture.

  7. Add vanilla and 1/3 of the buttermilk.

  8. Mix well then repeat adding flour and buttermilk until all is incorporated.

  9. Pour batter into pans.

  10. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
