Amish Friendship Bread

Ingredients

  • Starter:

  • 1/4oz pk Active Dry Yeast
  • 1/4 c Water, Warm
  • 3 c Flour, divided
  • 3 c Sugar, White, Divided
  • 3 c Milk, divided

  • 1 c Oil
  • 1/2 c Milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 c Flour
  • 1 c Sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 box (lg) Instant Vanilla Pudding

Directions

  1. In small bowl dissolve yeast in warm water

  2. let stand 10 min

  3. In 2qt (No Metal) combine 1 c Flour, 1 c Sugar

  4. stir in 1 c milk and dissolved yeast mixture

  5. Place in gallon baggie


  6. Days 2-4 – mush bag and let the air out

  7. Day 5 – add 1 c each flour, milk and sugar

  8. Day 6-9 – mush bag and let the air out

  9. Day 10 – add 1 c each of flour, milk and sugar

  10. remove two cups each in their separate baggie to give to friends

  11. bake bread with remaining cup


  12. In Large Bowl mix Oil, Milk, Eggs and Vanilla

  13. In Separate Bowl Mix Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder, Cinnamon, Salt, Baking Soda and Pudding mix

  14. Combine dry and wet ingredients

  15. Pour in 2 large well greased and sugared bread pans

  16. sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top

  17. bake at 325 degrees

  18. Never ever use any metal…only wooden spoons
