Pomegranate-Pear Sorbet

Ingredients

  • 2 pears, peeled and cut in half
  • 4 cups pomegranate juice
  • 1 1/3 cups pear nectar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons grenadine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine pears, pomegranate juice, pear nectar, and sugar.
  2. Bring to a boil; decrease heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until sugar dissolves and pears are tender.
  3. Remove from heat, and stir in grenadine and lemon juice.
  4. Cover and chill at least 4 hours or until cold.
  5. Remove and reserve pears from pomegranate mixture.
  6. Place pomegranate mixture in the container of a 2-quart ice cream freezer; freeze according to the manufacturer’s directions.
  7. Slice reserved pears, and serve with sorbet.
