Sauteed Brown Sugar Pears

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 anjou pears , peeled and cut into eighths
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • vanilla ice cream
  • gingersnaps

Directions

  1. Sprinkle lemon juice over pears.

  2. Melt sugar and butter in a big nonstick skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 2 minutes or until melted and smooth.

  3. Decrease heat to low; add in pears; cook/stir, 6-8 minutes or until pears are tender.

  4. Whisk together the cornstarch and 1 teaspoon water; stir into pear mixture, and cook 1 minute or until thickened.

  5. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.

  6. Serve over vanilla ice cream and gingersnaps.
