Ginger Bread Cookies

Makes 16-20 cookies, depending on size & thickness. About 1 and 1/2 baking sheets.

Cook time: 30 minutes
Serves 10 people

Ingredients

  • 1 stick of real salted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2/3 cup regular sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses unsulpher
  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose white flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • pan coat / butter spray

Directions

  1. Ensure butter is at room temp or soften.

  2. Beat butter and sugar in a bowl with electric mixer on med-high until smooth.

  3. Add molasses and egg, beat/mix until fluffy. Set this aside.

  4. In new bowl, combine flour and all dry ingredients. Mix, mix, mix.

  5. Now combine the two bowls (dry into wet). Mix just until incorporated (?), make a giant disc and refrigerate for 30 min.

  6. eat oven to 350.

  7. Roll out dough onto floured surface to 1/4" – 3/8" thick. Cut into shapes, use cookie cutters, etc. Place on pan coated (butter spray) baking sheet, leaving at least 1/2" around every part of each cookie.

  8. Bake for 10 minutes.

  9. Cool, then decorate.

  10. Store in zip-lock bags on wax paper.
