German Chocolate Layered Brownies

Ingredients

  • 60 caramels, light
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 package German Chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup chocolate chips, semi sweet

Directions

  1. In a heavy saucepan or microwave, melt caramels in 1/2 cup evaporated milk and set aside.

  2. Grease and flour 9 × 13 cake pan.

  3. Combine cake mix, butter, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and walnuts.

  4. Press 1/2 of cake mixture into pan.

  5. Bake 8 minutes at 350 degrees.

  6. Sprinkle chocoalte chips over hot crust.

  7. Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips.

  8. Crumble remaining cake mix on top.

  9. Return to oven and bake 18-20 minutes.

  10. Cool before cutting so caramel layer will set up.
