Chocolate Cake

This cake tastes fine without the frosting. It is liquidy cake and should never be used in a bundt pan

Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Serves 12 people

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups flour
  • 1/2 Cup COCOA POWDER
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. PURE VANILLA EXTRACT
  • 1 stick (1/2 Cup) butter
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • 2 Cups boiling water
  • 2 eggs
  • ButterCream Frosting
  • 1 lb. powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/3-1/2 Cup soft butter
  • 1/8 tsp. salt (eliminate if using salted butter)
  • 2 tsp. PURE VANILLA EXTRACT
  • 3-5 TB. milk

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°. Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together the vanilla, butter and sugar. Add the boiling water, blend, then add the eggs and mix until well blended. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix well. Pour into an ungreased 9×13 pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350°. Either sprinkle with cake decorating sprinkles for a lower sugar version before baking, or when cool frost with Buttercream Frosting.

  3. Beat together the sifted powdered sugar, butter, salt and vanilla. Add enough milk to get the frosting to a good spreading consistency. For chocolate frosting, add 1/2 Cup cocoa powder.
