Charlotte’s Pie Crust

Makes double 9” pie crust.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons salt
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 Tablespoon vinegar

Directions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, and salt. With blender cut until uniform, fairly coarse. Stir ½ cup water a little at a time. Stir in egg and vinegar. Chill dough.

  2. Use 1 cup of flour when rolling.
