(from SallyV’s recipe box)

I found this recipe in 2000. It’s a simple, but good basic sauce. You can always add meat or veggies to it.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 C. olive oil

  1. In a large stockpot, heat the oil over medium heat; sauté onions in until translucent. Add garlic and cook for another minute. Pour in the tomatoes and stir to combine. Add oregano, basil, sugar, salt and pepper; mix well. Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and allow sauce to cool for 15 minutes.

  2. Puree sauce in blender, food processor or use immersion blender. Re-heat sauce and serve over your favorite pasta.

  3. Freeze extra sauce for up to 4 months.
